Doctoral Career Consultations

The Career Support Office offers “Doctoral Career Consultations ” for doctoral students. Representatives from specialized companies, mentors, and university counselors provide support for diverse career development for doctoral graduates, addressing career choices and job hunting. Students who wish to discuss career paths and skill development unique to doctoral graduates are encouraged to utilize this service.

【１】Emerging Technologies Corporation（Online）

• Consultants：Emerging Technologies Corporation

         The company operates a career support business specializing in doctoral personnel, and has developed an employment support website

         used by more than 10,000 doctoral personnel.

 

• Anticipated Consultations：

      ・Providing information and advice on job hunting

      ・Suggest career paths and role models tailored to the consultant’s needs and situation

     ・Entry sheet correction, Resume writing instruction, and Interview preparation

 

• Consultation Method：

      ・Online (Zoom) , 1 hour per 1 time.　　

      ・In principle, consultations will be conducted in Japanese. English will be used when necessary.

      ・Follow up with the subject of the consultation via email or other means as needed.

      ・If the content of the consultation is not appropriate for the “Doctoral Career Consultation,” Emerging Technologies may not conduct the consultation.

　A specialized company that provides career support for researchers (doctoral students, postdocs) will assign a dedicated mentor upon request

• Consultants：LabBase, Inc.

　　The company provides services to connect students who are working hard on their research, doctoral students, post-doctoral fellows, researchers,

        and engineers with companies, with “the power of research to the power of mankind” as its purpose.

 

• Anticipated Consultations ／ Consultation Method：

　　・You can talk about anything, such as your career after completing the doctoral program or your concerns about your research activities.

　　・Online (Zoom) , 1 hour per 1 time.　　

　　・An interpreter will be provided if the consultation is in English.

　　・After careful consideration of each person’s expertise and career aspirations, a mentor (PhD Mentor) with expertise in doctoral careers will listen to

            your concerns and offer advice.

 

• PhD Mentor：

　　LabBase,Inc, which supports the careers of PhD students, will assign the most suitable PhD mentor (someone with similar expertise and career thinking)

        based on each individual’s needs.

　          40 years of experience in technology development at Sony Corporation,and 5 years of experience in doctoral-level career support at a university.

              He will support doctoral students in making informed decisions by addressing their real-world challenges.
